Asphalt paving, also called pavementing, is basically the laying of interlocking aggregate of gravel, crushed rocks and sand, bonded together with asphalt. It begins with proper preparation of the sub-grade, an involved process which involves heavy grading and/or dragging away of the existing topsoil; be it loose clay, sand, concrete or mulch and the underlying rocks. The use of trowels is used to remove the loose debris and allow for the laying of the aggregates of gravel, rock and asphalt. The position of the pavement is also determined by this stage, as it decides where the driveway will be laid. Once the preliminary work has been done, the asphalt is laid on the subgrade in uniform thickness, from one end to the other. Although asphalt paving can be used on most paved surfaces, it is often used on heavily traveled roads where vehicles rarely take asphalt pavement is costlier than asphalt slabs used on smooth surfaces. Roadways made of asphalt are ideal for use with hot mix asphalt, which is a combination of asphalt and cement, to cut down on the joint stresses and increase the lifespan of the roadway. This asphalt is more elastic than most asphalt, so it does not get stuck in low areas nor does it crack under the weight of heavy traffic. Hot mix asphalt is also beneficial because it makes the repair and replacement of damaged asphalt simpler and cheaper. Get more facts about contractors at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_improvement. When Foundations are made for interstates, freeways and expressways, the asphalt is mixed with tap water to create the hot mix asphalt, which consists of 90% asphalt and 10% water. When asphalt is used on state highways and other major roadways, it is mixed with petroleum diesel, a byproduct of the petroleum industry, and pressure is applied when the asphalt mixture is poured into the potholes to make them solid and firm. Since petroleum diesel is cheaper than natural gas, it is preferable for use as an asphalt replacement instead of asphalt oil. The only drawback of this asphalt paving mixture is that it contains trace amounts of benzene, a carcinogen that may cause irritations to the respiratory tract. Striping is primarily used for driveways, it is relatively less expensive than concrete or stone pavements. Concrete and stone driveways have to be installed by professional contractors, so the installation costs can be rather high. The repair and replacement costs for asphalt pavements are also cheaper compared to other pavement types. The repair costs for asphalt pavements can be reduced if they are used on low-traffic or uneven surfaces. A number of environmental benefits can be derived from asphalt paving. The asphalt contains less asphalt oils that are normally recovered during the asphalt manufacturing process. The recycled asphalt is a solid, durable material that is conducive to being recycled into mulch and other forms of landscaping, since it is non-absorbent. Asphalt that is not disposed of can be recycled to make new asphalt that can be used on driveways, sidewalks, and other surfaces. Asphalt paving can also reduce the need for new driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots. The asphalt pavement is also more resistant to impact damages and can handle more weight. Asphalt is a good material to use for driveways because it is one of the most durable and resilient forms of material available. It can also withstand natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, and heavy storms. It can also resist fire and is non-combustible, which makes it a good material for outdoor pavement. In the end, the advantages of using asphalt pavements outweigh its disadvantages.

It was interesting to me when you explained that asphalt pavement contains fewer oils. It seems like it would be a good idea to have an asphalt driveway if you live in an area that gets a lot of rain. It seems like you wouldn't have to worry about any oils draining out of your driveway and getting into the local water supply.

I appreciate that you explained that heavily-traveled roads would be where asphalt paving is usually used. I think commercial asphalt paving would also be beneficial for huge establishments, especially when trucks would be coming and going to their parking lots. Those trucks would definitely be heavy because of how many products they might be carrying every time they deliver.
